The Mirrors (Negative affirmation Series) brings together nine mirrored works etched with phrases taken from the kinds of things we say to ourselves sometimes jokingly, sometimes cruelly, sometimes without even noticing.
Mirrors usually promise self recognition, but in this series they also return language back to the viewer. The words interrupt the reflection, turning the act of looking into something slightly uncomfortable, slightly funny, and deeply familiar.
Together the mirrors reveal how easily internal voices become part of the way we see ourselves.
